Turkey arrests over three-hundred ISIS suspects in nationwide operation

(MENAFN) Security forces in Türkiye have detained hundreds of individuals suspected of links to the ISIS (Daesh) terror group following coordinated counterterrorism operations carried out across the country, according to official statements.

As stated by authorities, a total of 357 suspects were taken into custody during simultaneous raids conducted in 21 provinces. The operations were led by provincial police units working in coordination with chief public prosecutors’ offices, as well as counterterrorism and intelligence departments. Officials stressed that the country maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.

According to information shared by security officials, a significant portion of the arrests took place in Istanbul, where 110 suspects were detained. Reports indicate that 41 of those arrested were connected to militants involved in a recent attack in Yalova province and were allegedly preparing similar assaults in Istanbul during New Year’s celebrations.

Separate announcements from prosecutors in the capital said arrest warrants had also been issued for 17 additional ISIS suspects, including 11 foreign nationals. These individuals are accused of belonging to the terrorist organization and of maintaining communication with conflict zones.

Investigators said the suspects were identified through the examination of digital materials obtained during earlier ISIS-related investigations, allowing authorities to trace networks and plan the latest wave of arrests.
